Honey BBQ Sloppy Joe Recipe With Crispy Onions
Ingredients
For the Sloppy Joes:
– 1 pound ground beef
– 1 onion, chopped
– 1 green bell pepper, chopped
– 1 red bell pepper, chopped
– 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
– 1 (15 ounce) can tomato paste
– 1 cup water
– 1 tablespoon honey
– 1 tablespoon brown sugar
– 1 teaspoon chili powder
– 1 teaspoon ground cumin
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1 teaspoon black pepper
– 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
– 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
– Hamburger buns
– Crispy onions, for topping
For the Crispy Onions:
1 yellow onion, very thinly sliced
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons granulated sugar
1 1/2 cup entire milk
1/4 cup vegetable oil, plus more for greasing the pan

1. Cook ground beef in a big skillet over medium heat, breaking it into small pieces with a picket spoon or potato masher, until no longer pink; drain grease.
2. Stir in barbecue sauce, ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce.
3. Bring to a simmer; reduce warmth to low and cook, uncovered, for 10 minutes or until thickened.
4. Serve on toasted hamburger buns.

1. In a large skillet, warmth half inch of vegetable oil over medium warmth till a candy thermometer reads 350 degrees F.
2. Line a plate with paper towels.
3. Thinly slice 1 onion. Separate the slices into rings.
4. Dredge the onion rings in flour, shaking off any excess.
5. In a shallow bowl, whisk collectively half cup of all-purpose flour and 1/2 cup of cornstarch.
6. Dip the floured onion rings into the cornstarch mixture, coating them evenly.
7. Carefully drop the onion rings into the hot oil.
8. Fry the onion rings for 2-3 minutes per aspect, or until they’re golden brown and crispy.
9. Remove the onion rings from the oil and drain them on the paper towel-lined plate.

-Spread oil on hoagie buns cut-sides up.
-Evenly spread 2 Tbsp of honey-bbq sauce over the top half of four buns.
-Place the 4 halves that have sauce on them underneath the broiler for two minutes, or till golden brown.
-Remove from the oven and switch the broiler to low.
-Place the remaining four buns cut-sides up on the baking sheet topped with the meat combination.
-Sprinkle with crispy onions.
-Place under the broiler for 5-7 minutes or until the buns are toasted and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
-Remove the Sloppy Joe’s from the oven and place the tops on.
-Serve immediately.
